Anyone here want to take up Eyores room so she can get the deposit back?
What type of room is it - twin, double?
I think it was a twin , booked as a single with a single supplement.
The deposit is non transferrable and can be reused only for two months after the cancellation as opposed to two months after the date the room was booked for. Absolutely scandalous rip off
No it is not a rip off. It is made very clear when you book and quite normal when you are getting a greatly reduced rate for your stay as negotiated by Mr Parry(thanks Steve) . I am sure if you had booked at the hotels full rate, they would probably have refunded your deposit.I don`t aggree with you slagging off a good hotel that has looked after our group very well for many years as shown by over 50 people booking again.

Should have said nothing to the hotel, and just had someone else turn up.

It's not really like aircraft seats.

No loss to the hotel, no additional paperwork - they don't care who ultimately pays for the room.

Kim I've just phoned the Wild Pheasant and they said they emailed you that the deposit could be transferred to someone else, so if you can find someone to take the room that person could give you your deposit in return for your booking?

Thanks Steve, they didn't make that very clear about being allowed to transfer the booking, Leasky if you want the booking you may have/use the deposit. Its not about the money its about feeling ripped off.

Sorry Reg, you are entitled to your opinion just as I am, the hotel is not a charity and is not doing anyone favours its actually called business.Thats what the hospitality business is about, the clue being in the name. I worked in hotels at senior managerial level for many years and deposits are normally returned if the booking is cancelled with notice. Needless to say cancelling at the last moment and potentially losing the hotel a potential room sale is a different matter and certainly entitles them to keep a deposit.

Al advises the Wild Pheasant are reporting they're full, if that's the case the White Waters is the nearest hotel being just up the road from the WP, and as always the WP will gladly accept non residents to join in for the group dinner on the Saturday night at the cost of the meal :)

Other nearby alternatives are the Hand Hotel and the Royal Hotel.

Once I see that rotational pattern and confirm my time off and exact dates back in the UK, I shall hopefully be able to attend with Clare - we will be taking the GSA though as its still a tad far for her to travel on the back of the Mamola.

Fingers crossed :D
Bugger. Steve, I am going to have to cry off; the new rota has come out and I will be away on the weekend in question.

It's a real shame as Clare and I were really looking forward to meeting so many folk; especially after 8 years (today) of membership of this great institution.

I am sure it will be a roaring success and I look forward (with envy) to seeing the pictures.

Ride safe and have fun :D

Just checked the Hand Hotel down the road from the Wild Pheasant.

They're advertising the two nights for two people at £160 which is not bad

http://www.hand-hotel-llangollen.com/

Ok that's only B&B not D,B&B but one of those nights you can come for the group dinner at the WPH anyway
