I just fitted a set of Barbacks to my 2000 R1100S Sport (with the OE bars mounted under the yolk)
They are brilliant!
Anyone who suffers from neck and wrist ache with the OE bars as I did should try these.
Not only are they 100% more comfortable but the difference in handling is amazing.

LSL bar conversion
Thanks for the info.
I've just spotted the Rapid Dog Barbacks, they would work out about the same cost wise as the LSL conversion and maybe (IMO) look more in keeping with the look of the bike?
(ie not so high up)
Anyone have any comments?

ps Has anyone got any photos of the LSL bar ...

LSL Bar conversion for R1100S
Thinking of trying the LSL bar conversion kit on my R1100S if the 'bars on top of the yolk' doesn't do the trick.
Has anyone had any experience of the LSL conversion or a similar mod?
(ie: too high, too wide, looks wrong ect ect )
Don't tell me...... "You should have bought an R1100R"
I don't like ...

Seems like the way to go!
Does the yoke need drilling for the securing bolts?
Cheers.

Thanks Steve,
That was one option I had considered.
A darn site cheaper than buying another bike!

On reflection I think I could be accused of being a bit of a wuss!
I'm surprised no one has said so! (how kind you all are)
Do I really need the roadster?
Maybe not........
Going to keep on keeping on with my R1100S and see if I get used to it with more long rides, tone up my neck muscles and alter ...

Hello All,
Just been for a couple of long rides on my year 2000 R1100Ss (black).
Love the bike BUT!........
After an hour or so I get a nasty neck ache and sore wrists.
(I've always had bikes with a more upright riding position)

Higher bars for R1100s ?
Hi All,
I went for my first long ride on a recently acquired R1100s yesterday and was very impressed!
Just one niggle ....I developed neck ache at around 70miles or so.
I have always been used to more naked/roadster style bikes with a more upright riding position so the more sporty forward lean ...

I'm answering my own question now!!!
The multiple items (6) in the MFW lowering kit on the MandP site are for different bikes...the one for the R1100s is the stepped block.
Silly me!!!
MandP can supply with a 4 to 6week delivery time.
Think I might get one.

Thanks and thank you Merecat for the MFW link for the lowering kit.
I have just been on the MandP site and they are listed priced at £78.99.
The photo has more than one item (ie the block) in fact there are 6 pieces of kit!
Any comments?

I've just measured my torque arm and it is 385mm, making it standard.
I guess if I do decide to lower the bike a shorter shock or a lowering kit from MFW in Germany would be the way to go OR just get used to 'tippy toes'!
I think with being new to the Beemer after riding my Bonneville with both ...

Hi All,
Thanks for all the bits of info!
Thanks metropolis2k for the offer of the standard rear shock, very kind.
Thinking again ...lowering the bike is going to be more trouble than it's worth!
Only reason I thought about it was that I've been used to 'flat footing' on my Triumph Bonneville but I ...

Hi,
Thanks,
Ideally I would like to lower the bike by roughly about 1" (26mm)
What would be the easiest option?
1. Swap sport (Yellow) rear shock for a standard one or...
2. Fit a longer torque arm.
I appreciate you advice!
