Just had a v quick scan through the mag in which there are couple of good articles...
F800ST v Sprint ST v ST3 v Gixxer 750 (the wee BM gets a veritable 2 thumbs up)
Also an article on Walter Kaaden and Ernst Degner regarding the old MZ racebikes in the 1960's. Fascinating reading which makes one wonder where the Japs would have been without Degner's 'defection' to Suzuki.
This month's Berk magazine

F800ST.......brilliant
Had a group down this weekend made up of 4 x R1200GS, 1 x ZX1200, 2 x R6, 1 x CBR600RR, 1 x Blade, 1 x R1150RT and 1 x R1150GS
The BM's were, of course, the fastest (the riders were (ahem) "professionals"...
) and the F800 performed brilliantly. Really quick off the mark and corners on rails. Took it out on the Saturday and Monday and reverted to the Red Dwarf on the Sunday. Was agreeably surprised to find that the GS feels really tight and together after the F800. Build quality was really good in those days (
) The really surprising thing about the F800 is that for a bike with NO adjustment at the front end at all it handles everything the road canthrow at it with the same aplomb as the GS. No, really.
The guy on the CBR600RR wanted a go so we switched. God, the RR was awful...
It wasn't the riding position so much as the engine. It was all wail and no trousers. At 180kph in 3rd, with a banshee howl in my ears and waiting to hit the limiter at any second, I glanced down to see 9000 rpm showing. It doesn't rev out until 14,500...... Not for me ta. Interestingly I found that I was travelling at the same speeds on all 3 bikes. Apparently my speed is dictated not so much by the machinery as by an ECU in my head...
See ya!
