OT rant Gas

Post by Ade B »

Having moved house in February, and waited on British Gas 'helpline' for 20 minutes on several occassions to confirm change of address, get a gascard after repeated requests and no gas in the snow (we have a stupid prepay meter) we also requested a new 'normal' on account meter. Despite having been a British Gas customer for most of my adult life, they insisted that we pay prepay for 28 days before they would change meters... (previous tenant dispute blah blah...)

So we get a date, which was cancelled, get another without the flat number on the address and finally, 3 months later gas man turns up (friendly chap) and changes meter in a matter of minutes.

We didn't think to check at the time but having fired up the heating again I thought to pop round the side of the block and see what our new meter looks like.

He's only gone and installed a whizzy new pre pay meter

I am staggered that a company can cock up a simple request...

Sadly I can't ring em up now and vent spleen on some unfortunate telephone operator as they only operate until 8pm, so I thought I'd post here..

Anyone here know if I can switch providers and get a new meter with them instead - I don't feel like being a British Gas customer anymore...

Wine, tv, takeaway beckons...

Cheers Bob

Had a look and guess who they recommend as cheapest supplier for the area?

You could try them again and go for combined Gas and power, might work out cheaper with another supplier.

I've been without a working boiler now since Sunday 29th April and British Gas say that the part is not due in stock until 15th May the earliest. Ever tried living out of a kettle? Just as well the weather is warm as I also have no heating due to the non-working boiler.
