Kicking the Cat out

Post by gordy »

I've just bought my first BMW - an '04 Boxer Cup Replica and have been getting some conflicting advice about getting rid of the catalytic convertor. All seem to agree it's a good idea. Where the consensus breaks down is over how I should to go about it, which make of Y piece etc to go for and just exactly what kind of benefits it will bring. All advice gratefully received. Any other mods I should be considering?

Which pipe

Post by Andrew Burt »

I got a Laser pipe and cans. I got the impression that they are the BMW recommended after market system, they're fitted to the BC Rep 2004 after all. They certainly look the business as does the Remus system, but as to which is best, I have no idea, I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Personally I've got the Remus Y piece, but I don't think what brand of Y you use, it's a massive improvement. As for Cans IIRC the Remus system resulted in less power than standard, though I suspect that wasn't re-chipped.

You haven't got a prayer of ever getting your S to run anything like so long as you've got a cat on.
