I got some ideas off the RS forum and decided to make one for my Bike. The main spindle has some rubber bushings that protect the screen pivots. Once the Eclips have been removed, they retract far enough to allow the spindle to be fitted, and then the pivots are pushed back into the rubber bush ( a slice of fuel pipe). Once the Eclips are refitted, it's all very secure. The 4mm cap heads fit under the screen support arms and will have some small plastic pipe slipped over them to stop any scuffing. The screen even moves up and down (mine's always down anyway) and the mount doesn't move. It's still a work in progress.
Nice work Adam. I look forward to seeing the finished article. It’s such a sensible place to mount the SatNav, you have got to wonder why BMW didn’t make the same design decision, rather than site the factory fitted mount on the handlebars.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.
Done! Gave it a quick blow over with etch primer and black top coat. Also made x2 Spring clips (1mm dia) to replace the Eclips, so the whole thing is QD
Yep, Fantic 300 with a 240 tank fitted to preserve the original bodywork. I've been out at a Twinshock trial today, and it's now in my van, not quite so clean.
