Anybody tried one of these....

Or one of the cheaper, plastic versions?

Last year's trip to Spain (more specifically the return, as I did more miles on motorways coming home) really showed up the hand-numbing vibes on my ST at constant speeds. Are these things any good?

I tried the cheaper throttle rocker on my 1200s.

A few of my mates really rate them, but I didn't get on with it because of the eccentric throttle. The rocker was never quite in the right position because of the high degree of rotation to get the throttle to the useful range.

Should be good on most other bikes without the daft throttle arrangement.

Thanks for the reply.

Would one of the various positions the MV one can be used in get round that problem do you think?

The standard plastic one can be adjusted, I just found I was always moving it depending on whether I was in town or on the motorway. Got fed up in the end.

I think it's personal preference, buy one, or buy one of the cheaper plastic ones and give it a go. You can always eBay it.

Ta. Think I'll get one anyway, then give it a go across France in June. Last year, my right hand was just about dead.....!

Go a different way, the R1200RS has a cruise control and its bleeding brilliant - touch more expensive admittedly

I had a sit on one at Rainbow a while ago. Tbh, it felt a bit small compared to the ST, which put me off a bit. As did the price!

I've had the ST 5+ years now though, it might be time for a change.... :)

Dunno, this seems good value for money when 16k is not out of the norm for a new bike.

Got quite a few optional extras too.

I tried one years ago, but found during in-town riding - it was a hazard.

Threw it in the bin.

I have used a throttle rocker for ten years now. Granted it worked better on the 11 than the 12 because of the eccentric throttle but as I have now all but cured the eccentricity with that plastic insert thingy and the grip puppies I no longer have to shuffle it around depending on the environment I'm riding in. This one that you show is in essence the same thing but made of metal and can be turned at a right angle for reasons that escape me. The throttle rocker is curved in line with ones palm. I couldn't ride without one. Distances or otherwise as constant throttle adjustment really buggers my wrist.

I've been toying with this one myself. It has just about everything except ESA which I'm not bothered about but the thing that puts me off the LC's is all the tech. There's just quite a bit to go wrong with the latest bikes, and that dash is a horror show. My other option is a 'new' last of the line Griso and keep it for the next ten years.

Sorry. Thread theft.

Ditto. Bastard thing got caught up in my glove somehow on a roundabout and opened the throttle.
Ended up crossing lanes almost hitting a van. How I missed it I don't know, but I also threw it away rather than sell it.
For a long journey a throttlemeister is better imo.

Another option to try are these grip puppies. They are a foam tube that you fit over your handlebars. They worked for me, reducing the vibration numbness I was getting in my throttle hand.

Cheers,

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Thanks for the replies and info chaps, appreciated! :)

I've had a look at the Throttlemeister, and also dropped on this - https://www.kaoko.com/B2C/p/449241/1200 ... ear+models which looks a good bet too.

I do have Grip Puppies on my ST, they do make a bit of difference, but I'd like the option to be able to take my hand completely off the throttle for a while.
