Irish Newbie

Post by greym »

Hello everyone
Newbie here from Cork, Ireland. Bought myself a 06 r1200s in yellow and loving the bike. Its my first boxer and first BMW and a total change for me, I have two other KTMS too but fancied a new addition in the boxer

Cheers
Graham

Welcome!

The 1200s surprises a lot of people - especially when you're not out to win the "pub horsepower challenge"

Enjoy the bike

3 really nice bikes!

I was thinking about a change to a 990SMT. How do the 2 compare? I know they are different styles, but would be interested in thoughts from someone with both.

I was tempted by the 1290GT and went as far as locating one for April delivery, but - it's way too much (HP) for what I really need.

Maybe next year......

Al :)

To be honest it depends on what your looking for. Out of all the bikes I've owned so far the SMT has been the most capable per say. Its fast but the suspension and design is where it excels. Living in Ireland the roads are pretty bad at times but with the SMT you can just fly along and it takes it in comfort. Ive put the most into that bike interns of extras as basically i won't sell it and if its going anywhere my dads beneath me to sell it to him for a while now. Its a pure fun machine with a screen and panniers, it'll go up on the back wheel with ease and so much fun in the twisty. Its got character which i find rare in bikes these days, until I found another one with it, the r120s , another keeper of a bike.
If you want a pure racing machine on the road which is so precise and unforgiving in a great way, the RC8, and thats after owning a fire blade and a gsxr1000

Hope that helps
Greys
