Hello from overly sunny and dry California.

Bought a 2001 R1100S first of last month. Its got ABS and heated grips (not needed much here) and panniers. 180 section rear tire so I assume that it has the 5.5" rear wheel. Staintune exhaust. 104,000 miles on the clock, but it looks almost new. Got a great deal on it at the BMW dealer who took it as a trade in. It's the yellow and black color scheme, thus bumblebee as my forum handle.

I also have a Honda Hawk GT (Bros where most of you are). That one is up for sale. The wife says I only can ride one bike at a time, what does she know?

I'm 6 weeks shy of turning 50. Started riding at age 7 (dirt bikes). Crashed and broke my neck at age 10. Kept riding until my mid 20s. Started riding again a few years ago.

Gotta say the R1100 is the best street bike I've owned. Love the thing,

Welcome to our little corner of the www - hope you enjoy it here. :)

I've heard rumours of this 'dry and sunny' weather thing? We had a gorgeous summer here in the UK this year...think it was a couple of weeks ago, lasted several hours. :D

Well, I'm half Scots so warm and sunny just doesn't fit with my disposition. I'd love some real weather. Actually most residents of California would too. We are in a bugger of a drought.

Hi BMblB. I am not, it was a little joke. As I look out of my window at driving rain, and having just turned the central on for the first time in a month the thought of California sounds good.

I think everyone on Boxertrix would like to be heading your way right now.

Hi BMblB and welcome.

104K miles  ...and in great condition! At least partly due to your climate I guess. I know classic cars from California are prized because they tend not to be rusty - even old Alfas

How about a swap: some of our rain for a bit of your sunshine?

Mike :)

How many pairs of shoes does she have? She can only wear 1 pair at a time

She got a fair number of shoes, but she points out the difference in the amount of room a pair of shoes takes up compared to the smaller of the two bikes. Doesn't help when I point out the a couple pairs of her shoes cost more than at least one of the bikes "taking up room" in the garage.
