Carrying "stuff" on a R1100S

Post by Hoggyf »

What do you guys use for general carrying on a R1100S, I was surprised to find theres no storage even for a lock or waterproofs etc (should have realised with an underseat zorst! doh)

Don't really want panniers or top box so does anyone use a tank bag, tail pack or any other clever suggestions?? Just for small amounts, don't really like riding with a rucksack on.

Same goes for sat nav or phone holder, most seem to bolt to the handlebars with doesn't really work with clips ons so again what do others use.

Cheers

Cargo Endurance tail pack for me, Zips down small enough for the lunchbox, or expands massively for trips away, And a cracking pair of Givi throw-overs courtesy of Gus

I use a baglux tank cover and alpha bag for everyday use, and have a givi rack and box that I fit when my other half is travelling with me and soft throwovers for her extra "stuff" if required.

I've bought the system panniers because I love them on my GS. I do have some soft throw-over panniers but I doubt I'll ever use them on the S. I tend to ride with a rucksack 75% of the time and for something small I'd stick a soft tailpack on the pillion seat (just a cheap one that I've been using for years).

Givi make a sat. nav. bag that straps to the yokes - works very well and has a special plastic window that works with capacitive touch screens (like on a modern smart phone).

I hate tank bags, as they make filling with fuel more hassle than it should be - so I'd have to recommend the little Ventura tubular rack for daily carrying around of bits and pieces.

But I don't worry about cosmetics - so have a Monorack on the bike, with box almost permanently mounted. But I also bought a Givi universal kit for the Wingrack I've had on several bikes - so I can bolt on my massive Givi panniers, too.

I use a Ventura Sport Rack with the small Sport Pack for everyday use as a sort of mini top box, with the System Panniers for longer trips,

Same here, the Ventura rack can be swapped with a grab rail, I use a combination of a rack with a Ventura bag, another rack with a topbox and the grabrail.

Same with the peanut tankbag really, it has extendable sides and is very useful.

I use a kriega 10 tail pack, let's me carry the essentials and is not too big. It sits nicely on the seat cowl and straps down securely. Best £40 I have spent.
