Anyone got any good ideas for getting the rear caliper pad retaining pin out???
How is it held in place???
I took the little c-clip on the "outside" off - but the pin just won't come out
HELP!!

I've experienced the very same thing. I gently tapped the pin out (in the correct direction) with a small centre punch. It took quite a while before suddenly becoming free. Put a piece of wood between your knee and the caliper and tap away.
Maybe put a long thin rod in the circlip hole and free it up by rocking back and forth.

otoh - I think the new pins don't have a hole.
They are a force-fit I believe.

The pin on my one is a simple rod with a shoulder and the "slot" for the c-clip at one end. The other end (the "reverse") seems to have a collet or something around it. The pin is free to rotate within the collet but it simply won't shift.
Tried using a hammer and a drift (well - actually a small allen key) with the calliper on the bike - but it simply wouldn't shift.

sounds about right.
It will budge if you twat it sharply and at the right angle.
Try/buy a centre punch - it's designed for directing the energy to the tip. where an Allen key isn't.

Dont be shy use a 3mm parrallel pin punch and give it a good twat on re asembly use copperslip on the pin

I do the same, and drift it out with a small screwdriver and the caliper resting sideways on the disk

the pin DOES have a sprung collet around the "reverse" end - I used a center punch (as recommended) and knocked it out quite easily.
