Garmin GPS V RAM mount

Post by sondek01 »

Does anyone have the part no of the RAM mount used to mount a GPS V to the S ?
Is clamping to the ignition barrel a suitable place to fix to ?
Looked on the GPS warehouse site and there are loads of RAM mounts so I'm not sure which is the best one.
Cheers

This is the closest I could find - you just need to add the RAM cradle for the V. Easiest way is to phone them up as the complete kit is cheaper than buying separately.

And, yes the ignition barrel is a suitable place to clamp to although I had to insert a strip of rubber about 3mm thick (a slice from an old K series centre stand bump stop is ideal) to give it something to grip and stop it slipping with vibration and bumps.

Mine's been on for over 12k miles now, at least half with the V mounted. The right hand side of the cockpit is an ideal place to stick a power socket as well so that when the GPS is off the bike you don't have a flapping power lead.

Forgive me father for I have sinned... ex S owner moved onto pastures new with four cylinders and a chain... and back to a twin, albeit in a V.
