corrosion <hoo hoo!>

Post by minivin »

well, went into a dealer yesterday while roaming the countryside and thought I would pop into it since it was on my route. Got talking about corrosion on my S, since it's only 18 months old and 18k miles at that, I was asking how the sump could be bubbling around each core-plug and screw hole, the front engine cover bublbling around all the fastener holes and the lower yoke being sans-paint already.

The reply was "I've seen 5 year old BMW's with no corrosion, you aint cleaning it enough", cheeky git, I clean it every day through the winter and once a week during the summer, and while looking around the dealership noted every single bike of the same mileage had corroded..... not a 100% un-corroded example in sight. I'll still be chasing up my main dealer about a warrenty claim anyhoo, but they can't get lower yokes at present (wonder why......)

If nothing happens then I might just have to use my aircraft qualifications to explain the bad practices that go into the assembly of these things..... get around that you buggers

From November til now I rode it :) WD40 and only washing it with cold water, but if BMW will leave bare aluminium all other the place and tighten down fasteners on chocolate powder coat what do they expect

I've got my eye's on a nice little winter hack at present, Krapazaki 400 4T twin..... with trials outfit! shall have to practice going down the high street with the sidecar wheel in the air and sliding it sideways in snow and ice ;)
