I think I prefered the one that was done in Mamola colours, to be honest.

Prices of the normally-coloured R1200s tumbling in the dealers just now - but I must resist

Al

(I'd love the HP2S - Have it before the 1098, to be honest  )

Anyone who buys a bike purely on what they think it's resale value is gonna be a) has missed the point b) is likely to be disappointed

it looks good, the price is right but its still a counterfit of the original masterpiece-2004 bcr. the owners of the original work of art would cut of the ears of the pretenders :P

Most people don't have a shit load of money to spend on a bike. Usually they have to trade there bike and put money towards the new bike. So one whould think you do a bit of homework before parting with your hard earned cash!
By your comments it sounds like you have bought a R1200S and good on you! I nearly bought one myself. The majority of people haven't gone for the R1200S. Which means it is not a favourable bike. ( Not popular ) So my comment was and still is you can dress it up all you like and it still wont attract any new buyers. Who can afford one and wanted one has got one. That's why they have pulled production. So when you eventually go and trade it you can revel in the thought that you have paid heavily for one hell of a ride!
Maybe this forum should be plit into R1100S owners and R1200S owners to aliminate tention. Because either owner will never agree. As far as i'm concerned the R1200S should not be compaired to the R1100S. It's in a world of it's own.
Good luck to you and anyone that has one because I don't give a shit!

I don't know where you got that from, but they have NOT pulled production. Typical internet BS.

Tension? I would say it was yourself that was causing it.......... the remainder of us appear quite happy with our own and each others' purchases :? We like to poke fun at each other, but it doesn't extend beyond that. 8)

Maybe this forum is not for you?

As far as "stopping production" goes - if you are selling a model at 100 per week, but the production line runs at 500 per week - it makes more sense to run the line for a few weeks, then stop. Then restart once required again....................

Yes, I have an R1200S. There is more than a small clue in my signature!!
I see from your post on the other thread that the real cause of tension is that you bought an R1100S because it suited your wife, even though you really want an R1200S. Fine. I've no problem with that, but there's no need to take out your frustration on us.

As far as resale values go, I also have an R1100S that I have been trying to sell for a year. It's book resale value is decent, but I can't give the fecking thing away. Read into that what you will regarding resale values.

They don't even need to do that, as they make each model at the same time. Depending on the customer orders, you will see more of one model being produced than another on the same line. They have a very advanced production line. BMW produces on order, except for some countries that sell off the showroom floor. And then it's called dealers holding back ordering new stock, and not a production stop.

There are a lot of R1200S's sitting in showrooms all over the world.
With dealerships not placing new orders.
We have BMW Australia here. Another fancy name for a Importer. I would guess most Countries run in the same way. An importer brings a product in. Wholesales the product to a dealer ( Shop front, business ) who sells it on at retail RRP. Communication goes back and forth between them with little of that stock order not shiffting. So no new orders made. Communication goes back to manufacturer who then stops production to safe his money.
Look at it how you like, but at the moment the bike is not coming down the production line, until there is a demand for them.
Are they shiffting off the floors in the UK because there not here. That's why they are colouring them to make them more attractive to passer buyers. "Quote original comment"
PS is it Bank holiday there or are all you guys sat at work looking at this forum because I'm 9.5 hours in front of you which makes it midday there?

My original comment, and the fact that I thought it postworthy - was that it looked a lot nicer than the matt silver and the yellow one (sorry lads  ) and was "unusual"

I'd have a 1200s, if it didn't overlap too much with the bikes I have already - it is a cracking bike, and probably a bit more of a "Sporty-tourer" than the R-1 (which I bought for hanging a couple of soft bags on and going away for a week  ) - turns out that panniers don't sit on it right (wide rear.......... the bike - not me  ) so I have to make do with a tailpack and a wee tankbag.

Gives me more of an excuse to take the Boxercup :D

(I'll be interested to see what R1200s owners purchase as their next bike, and when that will be - economics of trade-in may play a part in that, but right now - I don't see a similar, better bike for their purpose)

Hey let me add some depth to my comments.
The 11s is not the only bike I have.
07 Zx10R Special edition
05 K1200S
1987 K100RS ( not for sale )

My comments on the R1200S is not because some body thinks I didn't buy it because of my wife!
It's because after 18 months I still can't bring myself to buy one.
I'm with most other that are still waiting to rush in and buy a Beemer that makes me want to give up my R1100S.
I should have read the other posts before posting my orriginal post
Sorry to all.

Buy the way with the mods I have to the 11s
I can punt it harder than all the other bikes I have on the tight roads.
