Noisy throttle spindle

Post by Jas W »

Is it normal for spindle to be noisy at low mileage,04 11S only 9000mls, ticking away good style even when hot. Is it a case of just out of balance or is there any other probs. Press on inside of spindle noise dissappears. :?: Anything to worry about.

If you mean the bit I think you do, then mine makes a right racket and has done for about 6k miles. Its worse when hot, the bits wear and when the engine pulls in mixture, it opens the butterfly a tiny bit which then springs back and causes the tapping.

Apparently its normal.

If its a different bit, then I have no idea what I'm on about...

Motorworks sell someting called a ticker killer, take it its the right hand throttle body??( Sitting on bike)

It takes the play up in the spindle, but this problem doesnt normally occur until at least 40k or so.

Guess what, my bikes done 40k and i just had a look and yes, Ive got the ticking which goes away if I press on the inside of the spindle, hasnt bothered me too much up to now, so not sure Ill do anyting until it gets really bad.

saw some pics on the pelican site on a particularly bad one, half the throttle shaft had worn away down one end, the guy managed to order a throttle shaft kit in the states from Bing USA, not sure we have anybody in this country that would do them.
