Front end clunking

Post by horse27 »

Just a quick question ...

If you sit on your bike - apply fronk brake - rock back and forth ... do you get a slight clunking sound?

If anything a little play between the wishbone and bottom yoke I think. Not sure if 'they all do that'.

Cheers, Lee.

Hi lee
Check that the bottom balljoint nut is tight on top of the wishbone. They have a tendency to work loose over time.

It could also be the front shock mounting. There is a rubber washer either side of the frame at the upper mount for the shock. What you are getting is what I failed the MOT on and it was down to one of the washers wearing out.. or in my case getting mullered!

Probably the ball joint though, or the disks wearing on the posts and allowing a tiny movement.

Hi Lee,
My bike is up for MOT this week so did the brake on rock back and forth thing. Found a slight cluncking sound on mine which turned out to be the brake pads rattling in the caliper housing. Don't know if this is your sound but it may be worth checking out.

Cheers cobbster.
