Another newbie joins the fold

Post by Doug K »

Hiya Guys

I'm on the wrong side of 45, owned Beemers for the last 15 years, previous two were K75's (latter one still going strong even after 2 tarmac visits and 3 years courier work, gave up courier work 7 years ago - getting too old!).

Finally bought my used Silver '04 1100S from SBW Hertford last year - excellent bike and SBW an excellent dealer. :D

Only found the Boxertrix site recently, and it's brilliant!! So many of my questions have already been asked and answered. Have always done my own servicing and will be no different with this bike.

Bike is standard with BM hard luggage and currently runs on BT020's, and I get my insurance through BMW. Have been looking at what to do next and with your wealth of advice will shortly be purchasing:

Ventura rack and luggage system
Remus Y piece
Twinmax
Optimate

Thanks for your advice re the gearbox drain plug - been wondering how to get the damn thing off!!

Anyone got any experience of Throttlemeister cruise control? Is it any good? Any stockists in the EU as USA supplier doesn't reply to my mails?

Many Thanks

Welcome welcome!
Try speaking to Mike at Woodies regarding the cruise control. Very helpful guy.

Me too, but my 1100s is my first BMW, my first of many I would think.

Welcome Doug

Thanks timbox2. If my 20 year old K is anything to go by these things are built like panzers, (fingers crossed the newer ones are the same), so you may not need to update as often.
I'm well pleased with my 1100. What do you think of your bike so far?
