My Dads had a bike accident on a diesel spill.

Andy, MIB is the motor insurance bureau. this was set up, and is contributed to, by all ins companys so that you can claim against them if you are not at fault and cannot claim from the third party. I believe it's like trying to get blood from a stone though

Stoney - I was involved in a car accident in May and due to the fact that it was a foreign vehicle that was responsible MIB were involved so that losses could be traced back to the foreign insurance if in fact there was any. Apparently MIB have 6 months, from the date of being appointed to investigate, to provding you with an outcome and either an acceptance of liability or not. The problem is that with the number of uninsured motors and untraced drivers their workload is huge so thats why it takes this long. My accident was in May and I have been notified this week that the other parties insurance has been traced and accept liability. Now the fun begins for injury claim etc.

Yep, as above Motor Insurers Bureau. My particular accident happened Feb 05 and I'm still waiting for a result via my insurance companys solicitors who are battling with the MIB. Plus point so far tho - I've retained my no claims bonus... hoo bloody rah!

Dads just got off the phone from the insurance assesor (no news on the bike yet) and he said there had been an accident in exactly the same place two days later - a bike again on an even bigger diesel spill leading all the way to the quarry.

How can they just keep doing this?

Submit your dads story to the craven herald and start the ball rolling.
They get away with it because we arent persistent enough in going after the offenders. The main problem is catching people doing it

Already done it. She sounded interested about the whole disel thing but wouldn't guarantee me anything. She already had deatils of the accident - along with another three invlolving bikes on the area over the weekend. I made it very clear to her that she shouldn't take the 'too many bikes crashing because its sunny and they've all come out to play' angle but that diesel spills mean that the rider is not too blame.

Dad should be on Look North tonight though as he's the 2000 casaulty rescued by the YAA. I don't quite know how he'll handle being dragged down there and the lights and stuff - I'm going along for male support.

Its quite funny, they suggested to Dad that he take his son so 'he could tell all his mates when he goes back to school'!

I managed to get a payout from one of my diesel crashes from the company responsible.
The company involved hired out construction equipment and had a JCB digger on hire during reworking of a traffic island.Along comes I just before rush hour on my way to work,try to negotiate island and end up on my arse very quickly.Luckily i,m not hurt and the bike wasnt too badly damaged.Its then that i notice the smell and see a large diesel spill covering the inside lane on the island.I then see the JCB and a transit parked next to it on the island.I trace the spill back to the JCB and can see fluid pissing out of it.The transit has a bloke in it with his nose stuck into a news paper.the van also had the same company name as the JCB.I knock on his window and get him to wind down the window so i can tell him whats just happened and get something sorted so it doesnt happen to anyone else.The Wanker didnt give a toss,not his problem,i dont start till 9 etc etc.He addmitted the JCB had been leaking the day before and didnt fix it or contain the leak because he didnt have time to do it.His attitude stank and i wasnt having any of it!I called the police telling them about the spill.They arrived very quickly and soon had the spill coned off and there traffic car blocking the affected area.The council then turned up and started clearing up the mess.I told them the crack with the bloke and his attitude.They tore strips off the twat and were going to take action against him and his company.This made me smile!I took some photos of the scene and went to the companys HQ and asked to see the director.I explained what happened and the attitude of his staff.I got a cheque covering all damage and loss of time posted to me the next day and a letter of apology stating that the twat would be receiving a severe bollocking.
If you can trace the spill to a likely source,then its worth pursueing.

I had dealings with the MIB a few years ago after been taken out by an uninsured driver.

I used RSS (Rider Support Services) who got me a very healthy payout and saved my no claims.

I would highly recommend them, especially since a more recent claim totally mishandled by the tw**s supplied by my own insurance, resulting in a failed claim mainly due to exeptionally bad legal representation.
