Datatool system 3 !!!!
Just what is it with this alarm. Ive read previous posts about peoples problems with it and all of a sudden I find mine is getting tempramental. It's gone off 3 times in the last week, all when the bike was minding it's own business on it's own in the garage. There wasn't a soul (mouse, leaf or gust of wind for that matter) near it. The only thing I can think of is that water has got into the system on these occasions (I washed it, I rode in the rain, and this morning I rode through thick fog leaving me and the bike covered in water droplets). Would this cause these problems and is the 1100s prone to it?, I had a fireblade a few years ago with the exact same alarm and never experienced any of these problems.

mine has done 4 years and 33k of service without event - the sensitivity is a bit changeable and occasionally it requires some pacing about to switch it off when parked near phone masts but I wouldn't say there was anything specifically S related in the problem..

I had a similar problem with mine straight after having it fitted a couple of years ago and each time it went off for no apparent reason the system tell-tale told me it was the lean angle sensor, indicating someone had picked the bike up off its side side. Not possible in a locked garage.
The fitter came back a couple of days latter and adjusted the lean angle sensor from 2 or 3 degrees (standard setting) to a full 5 degrees and I have not had a problem since. The sensor is still active as I check it once in a while by standing the bike up.
If you check the owners manual I think it is possible to change the lean angle but I could be (and often am) wrong
What sensor does the tell-tale tell you has caused the alarm to activate??

my mate who bought my Daytona had a problem with the Datatool III in that it started playing up when using the fob.
Thought the problem was the fob, so reverted to the spare............. then the alarm failed completely.
Went to full alarm/imobiliser and cut the power to the instruments. Called up Datatool and they gave us the terminal IDs inside the unit that would disable the unit. Presto-hey.............. Bike was a runner again.
It now appears that the alarm/imobiliser has "self healed" and is back to normal????
I reckon on my remaining Datatooled bike - I will breakout the terminals to a DP switch so that I can always get the bike going in an emergency (especially abroad)

If I am ever on life support - Unplug me......
Then plug me back in..........
See if that works .....

...sounds just like the problems I am/was having although I've taken to disarming the motion thing of late. Just wondered because having just bought the bike i've still got a reasonable length of time to get the dealers to disconnect it should I see fit without charge. Seeing as well I'm not the only one and the fact it's not done it of late I think I'll see how she goes. Electrics and alarms, all voodoo magic to me.
