Nice little write-up on the R11S in this month's Ride magazine (Nice to see the '02 BCR on top of the chart )
Anyway, one thing they mention is fitting a centrestand as leaving the bike on the sidestand drains the oil from the right pot and also causes smoking on startup (oil down the stems to the left pot).
As I use my bike every day to commute (only 10 miles each way) should I be thinking about fitting a centrestand ... or is it all just b-o-l-l-o-x.
I do get a bit of smoke (which clears) from time to time ... and yes I get rattles too ... it is a Boxer!

When I come to park the beast I let it tick over for a few seconds on idle before flicking the switch - then hold it for a few seconds more before dropping it over.
May be a placebo but seems to combat the smoky starts
Never thought to look for smoke from one pot.... I will in future.
Easy to use sidestand on the 11s, though...probably the easiest I've ever used. I had mine fitted this year. But it does not seem to me to go far enough over centre to inspire confidence on say a ferry.
Come down the M69 to Coventry and come off for the M6,it's got the best lefthander in the world bar non, mine smokes like a good going round there, well my Fazer man says it does!!!
