Plastic bag on exhaust headers

Post by stoney »

A plastic bag blew on to my exhaust headers while parked yesterday - while they were still hot - and melted on them and has made right mess

Any tips how to get the mess off?

Andy, you could try alloy wheel cleaner or some other nasty acid like solution. I have some alloy wheel cleaner that I left a paint brush in overnight, absolutely no bristles left on it in the morning  just the wooden habdle and a very shiny metal bit.

Seems to be coming off by re-heating and scrubbing..I guess a final polish will be required too - Ta for the tips.

pan scourer on hot exhausts did the trick on mine - but then again they weren't mirror polished to start with...
