R1200S Stands?

Post by Boxered »

Has anybody got a straight answer from abba stands as to whether their k1200s/r stand actually works with the r1200s? I have fired off 4 emails without reply, have spoken to 2 different staff who dont appear to know what a bike is, let alone an r1200s
1st guy tells me the same stand will do it, 2nd guy says they have never seen an R1200s.

they dont exactly inspire confidence.

can anybody recommend me a decent stand please, ideally similar to the abba style, so that I can get both wheels off at the same time.

cheers

Good luck with Abba, see my post mid feb' - either they are stupid or just don't care - either way as my 12S has a belly pan (and hence an Abba type stand wont fit ) I bought a BMW paddock stand which is very well built (as you would expect) not cheap (ditto) easy to use one handed and stable (good!) BUT fouls the rear tyre when you put it on/off (could have done with an extra 5mm of clearance) but for obvious reasons cant get both wheels off the ground, only the rear (but makes washing it easy - what happened to the good old centre stand!) If you go the Abba route all I can say is "good luck!"

This seems a good front stand - allows wheel changing

I've just got the Wunerlich rear stand which is excellent and good value - just keep it done up tight!

I spoke to the abba guys at the nec today, and they swear that the 1100s stand and fittings work with the 1200s! same bolt on piece, and you need to prise off the black plastic cap from the left side swing arm pivot. I havent tried it yet, has anyone else?

Boxered.
Have you seen my post viewtopic.php?t=6277

Now one of those at £150 can certainly fulfill all your lifting needs in one go with the bonus that you can drag it around when it is in the air and the bike is never gonna fall over. Unconventional? yes.
It can lift up to 1000kg.

Yeah, I did see that post, and it looks really useful, I have the wunderlich rear stand and a wipra front stand which I bought 'cos I got nowhere with abba, plus my original abba stand from my 1100s, so I think I'm all standed up now! I'm a bit miffed that I bought the front and rear if my old stand was up to it

cheers
