Just seen on Yahoo Boxer so posted in here:
"Over a year ago I asked if anyone was interested in Performance
camshafts. We have now developed a complete package including
cams, valves, springs, tappet buckets, retainers, cotters and spring
dampers (bottom retainer). These have been designed and manufactured
by my brother Graham who was, for 11 years, head of the valve train
department at Ilmor Engineering (as some of you may know, they still
make the F1 engines for Mclaren/Mercedes amongst others)He now works
independantly, for over a year now,in the same field, mainly catering
for the highest level racing engines, with his own manufacturing
facilities of the highest order.I'm head of the workshops and stores
at Motorworks and have been coordinating testing, independantly from
them, with their help and approval. Many thanks, Cris and Ian.
The parts are made to the latest F1 type materials, and have been
developed with reliability in mind. I've seen plenty of cam, retainer
and tappet bucket problems in my time with the standard parts,
especially those used on bikes hard constantly and with the rev
limiter chipped higher. We are confident we can help, the design
brief was for safe revs of over 10500rpm.
We have tested a series of cam our own profiles back to back against
BMW's originals and have a design for use in place of the RS/S cam as
fitted to the 1100S. We have a cam that gives more power at the top
end with no losses at the lower end.Because we make our own cam
blanks to start with in a material thah can take over twice the
loading that BMW's cam can, that, with much lighter reciprocating
components and springs designed to work in harmoney with the weights
involved, we have a freer hand at profile design to get these sort of
results. If we had a custom chip in, we probably would have gained
there too as our air/fuel ratio figures were very poor over 85% of
the dyno run. I haven't had time to rechip as more profiles are being
tested now for the GS boys.
If you want to know more, A website is being developed,
www.thepowerpackage.com we should have some more info on it within
the next week, it is running already but not to our satisfaction yet.
Cheers......Trev"
