Hi Boxerphile's,i have a question that i'm hoping one of you may know the answer to. I've been on the lookout for a 5.5 inch rim for my 11S with ABS for a while now,and one has just come up for sale on fleabay. Its off of a BCR that did NOT have ABS. Would this none ABS wheel (part N.O MC36.31.2.335.284) fit my ABS equipped bike,or would the fitting of the ABS ring affect the disc/caliper alignment? Any thoughts on this would be much appreciated,
Andy.

The brake disc will align correctly for your calliper. However, there will be no room to fit the ABS toothed ring. No ABS ring will upset the ABS system, will certainly cause the idiot lights to flash. Who knows how much else on the newer bikes will be affected when an ABS fault is registered.

I thing you are wrong...
On the EVO-ABS bikes from 02 on the wheels for ABS and non-ABS bikes are the same except for the spacer/ring for bikes with ABS.
I just swapped my 5 for a 5.5 myself and like it.Looks like the rear is not offset anymore and the handling is even better. But then it might have to do with the act that the M3 I have on now are a little more pointier than the Z6 I had on the 5.0...

My bike is a 2002 model,i'm not sure if it has EVO-ABS or not,how would i tell BMW-Fahrer?
And Oyster, thats the problem i'm worried about, because the 5.5 wheel i'm looking at never had an ABS ring fitted does that mean that fitting one would give me alignment issues with the disc/caliper,i.e ABS warning lights, uneven pad wear?
Or other problems i've not thought of maybe?

You could get out your Junior hacksaw and cut about 11mm off the rotor posts. Then retap them to clean out the old Loctite and give yourself more thread depth.
Then fit the ABS rotor under the disc rotor and Robert's your uncle.
