Indicator Screws

Post by Taz »

I've recently bought some (second hand) clear lenses for the rear indicators and they have BMW markings stamped on them.

The problem is that the screws from the old orange covers don't appear to fit into the new clear covers. The holes in the screws stubs are the same but the thread cut into the old orange cover appears to be different.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Are you sure it's the screw holes that are wrong? The BMW clear indicator moulding is slightly different to the orange one and needs some judicious filing for it to sit correctly. Or at lease the ones I had a couple of years ago did.

Wonky Winkers

Post by Taz »

Ian,

The stub that takes the screw looks the same on both the ornage lense and the clear one but when you put the screw into the stub it won't bite into it - it's as if the previous screw had a different thread and my screws are of a different pitch.

As the clear ones have a BMW stamp on them I would have thought that they would fit, but hey, that would be too easy.

Any suggestions (apart from gluing them in). It's probably a trip to Blue Bell BMW in Crewe tomorrow morning.
