Mandarin - the most noble of colours

Post by tripe »

Discovered this afternoon that one can run out of petrol at precisely 120 miles ~I Found myself stuck in the central reservation outside the V and A.

First Mr Mandarin F650 pulled up alongside and came to help, then Mr Mandarin F800 pulled up to help too.
Made my Mandarin S look a bit tatty but very grateful for the offers of help and a chat in the rain - to these unknown knights thank you.

I know some of you consider black the fastest colour, red to be rare on a GS but mandarin is the thirstiest.

Another mileage thread

But 120 to the tank

I don't pootle about and apart from the power commander I've the same spec as you and get 180 without fail. Then again I did have a winter R11 for 3 months that was completely standard & struggled to get 150 to the tank.

As an aside .... what is the actual ~BMW colour for my bike... see below.

Vines had it as yellow and grey.... it was a BMW press bike and their bits of paper called it Mandarin and Titan Silver and I have seen it as Grey and Manadarin... CONFUSED??? :?: :?:

London miles do it for economy, all that start/stop and first gear.

It is also well known that because of traffic fumes the atmosphere is thicker and therefore creates more air resistance for the engine to overcome. Andy.

Mandarin Gelb/Titan Silber

I never got over 100 miles before the light went on before I installed my Foster chip. Now I average around 160 miles before the light comes on. And it is faster to boot.
