All the talk surrounding the Mobil 1 Gear Oil has been around using it in the gearbox (obviously before any smart ar*e points it out ).
I notice the same grade of oil is specified for the rear wheel drive. Is there any reason not to use the Mobil 1 for this or would it just be overkill/a waste?
The gear box holds 800ml and the bevel box 250ml thus to do both you need to buy 2l, all for the sake of 50ml. So to get round this me and a mate bought a litre each and did the job at the same time otherwise the bevel box was going to get left until the next gear box oil change. My mate did his bevel box later.

I did the diff first; filled it to the level hole. Very carefully. Test ride. Then did the gearbox. The remainder of the one litre bottle filled it to just under the level, about another egg cup full needed. So I used a bit of plain mineral gear oil to top it up. No problem.
