Stuart

I bought some cellulose paint from a paint supplier which is a perfect match. If you rub down the relevant corrosion, you can prime and paint it using an airbrush. You can do this in situ and the results can be very good.

Cheers Archie.

I freed up all the bolts today to see if I might have a problem.... all OK. But I am inclined to do what you say. Seems like a lot of work to get it off.... even the oil pipes seem to get in the way of some bolts.

It will mean a lot more prep... but I think worth it. If I wanted a concourse bike... I would probably do it properly.... I just want to ride but on a pretty bike.

Call me old fashioned...

The reason I asked was because a quick check on Max BMW suggested that the US price for a new one was about £100. I reckoned that that was not too bad.

Just think, if the UK price is about the same it would come with a BMW warranty - ahem! If it still corrodes it could start a regular supply of new ones.

The paint's a Rover Silver and the code is 202 MMC or something similar. I had to buy .25 litre, which will do most of the bike!!!

If you need to get some and the above numbers don't help, then take a part of the bike and a good paint shop will match it. FYI the frame and wheels are different colours to this!!!!

I hope this helps. Cheers
