Toying with selling my 03 BCR

I'm debating whether to sell my BCR :





I've not had it long but I need to get rid of one bike and I think this may be the easiest to sell.


It's an immaculate 03 bike (first reg Dec 02).


It has Laser exhausts/rechip,Y-piece and the BMW 25 litre hard luggage.

I also have a wunderlich low seat.

I've just fitted new Michelin Pilot Power 2CT (the twin compounds) front and rear.


Only 2 owners inc me and ONLY 3500 dry miles !!!


What do you think would be a sensible price ?

I won't give it away,but I am realistic about these things.

Just about impossible for us lot on the board to even guess,seeing we've also got to allow for vat,if we want to ship it onto the main land,after the drama i had with my XT,the only way is to ride it back and pay cash at the customs,but for anyone with a sense of adventure maybe a bargain for some one.

The VAT issue is very straight forward.


I have sold a number of bikes over the years to the mainland UK.


Obviously a prospective buyer could come over here and get it.But the easiest and cheapest way is for me to ship the bike unaccompanied to the UK,either Portsmouth,Poole or Weymouth.


I make out a Bill of Sale and the purchaser collects the biks from the docks and pays VAT in cash based on the Bill of Sale price.The VAT is paid on collection at the local harbour office and you will be given a certificate.This is taken along with the paperwork I provide to your local DVLC office and you then re-register the bike.

It is very hassle-free if you know what to expect,and I have done it without problems on many occasions.


I was hoping to get about £4250 for the bike,and this would include me shipping the bike to the UK.


With VAT paid,this means you could have an immaculate BCR in the best colour,with VERY low mileage and brand new tyres,and hard luggage for less than £5k,VAT -paid.


Anybody interested ?

Christ i wish bringing my XT in was easy,it was on the dock side for two weeks while the guy i bought the bike off wouldn't give me my money back and the shipping agent(you don't deal with customs) wouldn't let me have the bike because there was some argy bargy over valuation.

I'd buy another bike from the Channel Islands no problem,firstly go and look at the bike,take your kit and ride it home yourself,be the person who's in control,and don't forget it'll cost 80 quid to register it over here.

Well I've sold 4 bikes in last 18 months in this way and there hasn't been any hassle at all .


I was merely posting that I was thinking of selling the bike.

The fact that you dealt with a muppet who didn't know what he was doing is a shame,but please don't imply that this selling process is complicated.

If you have the correct paperwork,which I always supply,it's a piece of piss.

I'm not implying anything, i was told it was piss easy to ship the bike in,he(the seller) worked for Condor ferries which made it even easier,it wasn't!!,may be i was unlucky,but that doesn't mean i'm not going to tell my story!!!.
