r1100s '98 vs r1100s (twin spark)

Post by Adski »

I absolutely love my r1100s, and have been contemplating an upgrade to a newer twin spark model - but would there be that much difference between my low milage '98 model and a newer version?
Mine's standard apart from the Vanderlinde system it came with. I'd like to continue to use this on a newer model if that's possible?

I highly doubt I'll actually get a new model, though it'd be nice to know if there'd be any benefits in upgrading.
I should probably just arrange a test ride and see for myself!

cheers,
Adam

I think that the twin spark was a short term fix for the Euro emission thing and does not give any extra or noticable performance increase over the single spark.

If you want a bit more then spend the extra cash on better suspension,y piece, and an SJ filter.

Your first 5 words tell you all you need to know. If you really must spend some dough, then hey, spend it on the one you love. Get a test ride,it's a bit like a one night stand, when you come home, you feel the real love, and feel so guilty you go out and buy her new sussies(ohlins/wilbers/maxton) and some bling....er...allegedly

There is no power difference at all between the two. Emissions only.

Adam,I had a 99 and have a twinspark 04...
I can't feel no difference in power on in shift quality even since the tranny got upgraded in 03 with lighter shift mechanism and more gearoverlap for quieter operation.
What I like better about the 04 are the much better ABS brakes and smoother engine that also gets a little better mileage otherwise I liked the 99 just "S" much...
