PCIII

Post by tripe »

Had a smaller tax bill than expected so treated myself to a PCIII that was fitted and set up by PDQ yesterday. Can post the dyno chart later if of interest to anyone.
power up by nearly 4 hp and torque up about 4 ft-lb as well.
Most noticeable in the lower and mid ranges where pick up is smoother and swifter, flat spot and hunting'surging seems to have disappeared.
Not had a chance to do more than 30 miles since installation but very happy with the results so far. It does feel like a more refined and punchy engine has been fitted.
Someone who really knows how to get the most from their S would be very happy I suspect.

The one downside though which I hoped wouldn't happen was the starting issue. Took nearly 10 turns to get fired up.

Wasn't that a problem our friends over the pond had? Sure I've read it somewhere. It was on the internet so it must have been true... :?

Have you looked on Pelican?

some did indeed. I am hoping to leave it until I next take the tank off as its such a pain to do the tank bolts with the lennie in place.

Tripe, bad news about the crappy starting. If you check out the threads on this board - there's detailed advice about how to power the PC3.
here's a very poorly executed link =

So, 4bhp just by tuning the PC3? Fantastic!!

What's does it show now?

...I can't post links either, a useful thread might be the one started last Nov 26 titled 'pcIII accelerator pump upgrade'

actually its a '99. i had seen the pelican thread and whilst pointing it out at PDQ they had no starting issues, hardly surprising after a couple of hours of dyno time!
Though after 8 hours parked on the street it started in half the time it did this morning. Have to wait and see how much of a problem it is/becomes.

Lloyds has never been a good starter, but mine has never been any different, always fired bang on the button, both before PC and after.

The PC111 as fitted by the instructions takes it's power of the injector circuit, some bikes have marginaly higher output at this point and that makes all the difference. Direct feed off the battery is an answer.
