Bad wind today 11.1.07

Post by bigblackfalco »

I'm interested to know if anyone dared ride a bike today?
I chickened out.....think it's something to with the various bits of shrubbery I can see getting ripped out the garden.

you were wise, I did and nearly got taken out by a plastic storage crate that decided to wanted to cross the a12 near Gants Hill and then by a sheet of plastic formerly covering the side of a portacabin on the lorry I was following.

Should be a quick trip home though :D

50 miles this Morning...and 50 back tonight...

Filtering in rushour at 8 requires a little more timing when the wind is a bit fresh...

I did as I always do - cos I'm stupid ... only 15 miles each way though. Crossing a couple of motorway bridges caught me by surprise :(

Thank god for bulk and long wheel bases.

Rode the S to work and then my Fazer 600 home.
Been in worse weather but I found the wind worse in town when the side roads catch you out.

Used the car thankfully as I was driving past Hughenden Triumph a branch about 3ft long crashed into the top of the car just about where my head would have been if I had been on the rare red GS.

Didn't seem that windy to and from St Helens / Runcorn. Very wet mind :!:

Some of the gusts up here in Cambridge were ferocious.....the type that blow you from one side of the road on to the other!

N16 to Kingston & back - there was more tree branches about than usual..

Found it worst at the lights with the bike stationary..

Watching my garden fence blow to bits just 10 minutes before I left for work gave me food for thought... but the actual ride (25 miles) was OK.

When I got to work I had a wet belly where the wind had blown the rain up under my jacket... that's never happened before.

I was out in the hurricane in '87 (the Michael Fish one!) but didnt think that was too bad until an articulated lorry I was lining up to pass just seemed to fall over in front of me. Once I'd stopped and got off the bike I could hardly stand up in the wind!
