White dials

Post by throttlemeister »

I want to get me some white face plates for my speedo and tacho, but though I have seen bikes fitted with them, I cannot find any shops that sell them. A few Ebay shops that did have them in the past don't seem to have them anymore and/or don't reply to email inquiries.

Anyone have an idea for an online resource where I can order these for my S?

...I've gone through all that trouble...
...you can just forget it...

...I almost bought the original (very expensive !) white BCR dials, but since these bikes all came without ABS, the partnumber of the white speedo doesn't match an ABS-bike...

my question and a few answers later : http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showthre ... hite+dials

...my solution : R1200S... 8)
Have a nice day !
Ron.

I don't have ABS, but like you I don't want to pay up for an entire instrument panel.

I have white dials, as does Madman. Without going the expensive route (i.e. spending a fortune with BM), I managed to find someone in the UK. However, he needed my dials in order to make copies, since he's not supplied for an R1100S before. My bike needed a bit of, ahem, cosmetic surgery since having a minor run into the back of a car, since it was apart anyway, there wasn't a huge amount of effort required to remove the dials (although I did have one heart stopping moment when one of the needles pinged across the garage!) & send these off.

The guy was very quick, and turned them round in the week. But, they are over-lay dials only (as in some type of coated paper). The guy didn't charge, so I can't moan, It's just that I'd rather envisaged replacement plastics! (Madman has plastic replacements, but these are in Kph).

However, they are now in place & look the nuts. The backlight is affected, but not to the extent that you may think. If you're interested I'll let you have the guys email & take pics & paste them up.

Cheers,
Nero

The ones that I have seem to be made of white card laminated in clear plastic. They replace the black BMW dials so the backlighting shines through.
If I had a decent photo editing program I could probably make these myself, I have a laminater and the original dials to use as a template.
I thought that I would try sometime and as I use a colour laser printer, I could possibly put a colour logo onto them if I wanted. If I get round to it I'll post the results here.
If anyone wants to see the ones that I bought then there is a picture in the boxerspex section

km is good. Send the guy a message a few days ago, but never received a response. So much for customer service.
