If they stopped people speeding then they would have to find another means of ripping people off. Maybe they could catch some of these twats with a mobile phone stuck to their face whilst driving with one hand, I'm sure that would raise a few quid.

I have a cunning plan.

If everybody who used the roads conspired to stop speeding for a year, the camera partnerships would not raise any money and become a drain on the government coffers, which in turn would lead to them being closed down (just like sections of the NHS). Then we could all start using the roads properly again i.e. selecting speed to suit road conditions, and the police force would have to re-introduce traffic police who could then apprehend real law breakers like, people using inappropriate speed for the conditions, people using mobile phones while driving, people driving un-roadworthy cars, people driving without a license, tax, insurance, brains, etc

As it is at the moment - Police pay is increased annually on an incremental scale as at the date of joining. I am not aware of performance related pay. I think it would be a very unweildy beast to implement as not every police officer is in front line policing and able to generate arrests.

I got the impression that Andrew was on a "pay per arrest" scheme, which was so good that he had bought one new bike and was looking for another

Hey there even using my income tax to put adverts on the Tv to tell me its my fault that Ive just been mugged for my phone because I dared to use it in a public place next there put an advert on telling me that I should,nt lock my doors as they might hurt themselves breaking in, But Sir they wouldnt break in if you didnt work for such nice things would they sir.

AND NO... I didnt have a lot of money... I just made it happen. The cost of living is a third (in Spain) and the roads are soooo quiet.
