Very interesting. Would love to hear about some real world experiences with this kind of conversion.

One should be able to get the same kind of power, smoother operation and better fuel mileage. And more space to increase tank capacity.

The man to talk to regarding carbs on an S is Jim at Cray Engineering in Kent. He used to race one.
Bailey.

Was that so he got better fuel economy???! Seem to remember that Jim recommends Mikuni Flatslides??

BM wouldn't help with the fuel injection,so he ripped it all out,fuel economy!!!,the engine puts out 130hp!!.

He runs a 6 speed Kayser close ratio box,with a Luftmeister turbo sintered clutch,with a stock rear drive,but the motor has a habit of spewing it's lunch up,have look in a search engine for Scuderia RO BMW R1200RS

Lloyd has had his toes in the water on this one for a while.It aint cheap thats for sure.Interesting though,i would like to see what could be done and how rideable the bike would be.

One of the reasons haveing got through what ?,£6000 on my S i still haven't been into the engine,and the reason BM are struggling with their HP version,the moment you try to squeeze that little bit extra they throw up there lunch.

Good link! I didn't try to interpret the text but the photos show bike number 6 ran a set of carbs while bike number 5 uses throttle bodies with two injectors each, plus some sort of butterflies mounted up high, that must be the blown version.
If enough is enough and more is better than too much should be just about right.
