Help!! I've just bought a new Staintune Exhaust system for my pride and joy 2005 R1100S. Can I get it to fit? No.
Has anyone else done battle with this system and succeeded, if so apart from taking cutting gear and a welding torch to it how did you get it to fit?

Thanks for the quick response.
Quite simply I can't get the link pipes to line up with the collector pipes (that replace the cat) and the silencers under the seat. One of the link pipes also appears to have a bracket on it that suggests that it fits to the frame but the very simple instructions that came with the exhaust make no mention of the bracket.

You'll never get it to fit...................... you might as well send the exhaust to me (free) and I'll recycle it for you (i.e. fit it to a different cycle - mine
)
Never tried it, so the only advice I can give you is........... "Watch your knuckles"

First put in the X piece that replaces the cat. Slide on the forward collector pipe (for the right silencer). Do not tighten it. Slide on the right silencer and wiggle it into place. Put on rear collector pipe. Slide on left silencer and wiggle into place. Check everything lining up properly. Tighten all clamps. Mount plate under silencers. Mount license plate bracket on plate.
Did it like this this weekend. Your should be easier as it is new. Mine was second hand, so things don't slide as easy. Took about an hour. Lovely sound.

Piece of Pish - once you figure it all out
Hi Taz,
welcome to the curse of the 11S.
I bought my Staintune 2-2-2 off Archie to go with my SJ and Lennie's to open up the sniffing and farting.
Mine replaces the cat and has the two pipes initially coming up the lh side and then the right pipe heading over to the rh side at about the top of the suspension unit.
You need to take off the lh rear footrest and pannier holder - if fitted. All the rear plastic needs to be off to allow a little more give when you are gettin' jiggy with it.
You can then offer up the pipes from the lh side and get the two prongs to fit into the receivers by the pegs and have the silencers up and out a little bit from the rear.
If you're doing the work on your own - tie a cord around the silencers to keep them up and high and to maintain the alignment angles for the next bit. With a bit of care and diligence (mallet & softwood lever)you can slowly work the pipes forward along the receiver slot and lift the silencers up onto the pins. (There's a good thread about securing the silencers onto these by threading the pins and bolting them on)
Keep moving between levering down below and pushing the pipes and eventually it'll happen and you'll have 'em in the slots and on the pins.
You'll then need to align the headers to the pipes - do this one at a time and keep levering as required until they align. There's a fair amount of flexibility in the pipes until they're bolted up. You may need to shim any gaps. Don't use the bolts to pull the pipes into alignment as they're too pissy small and made of a special bmw jellymetal to take any real torque - just hold the pipes in alignment and then tighten the bolts.
I had to swap back to my standard can for the MOT and managed to replace the stock with the staintune in around an hour.
Hope this helps and you haven't done the wristyslashy thing yet!

I forgot to mention. Has any got a bracket on one of the pipes that fits onto the left rear foot rest hanger? One of my pipes has a small tube welded onto it and there is a rubber bung in the bag of bits that looks as if it is supposed to go into the tube to act as a rubber mount. Where does it fit onto - have to ask as the directions from Staintune don't make any mention of it.
Could anyone help with a photo or two - happy to reimburse any reasonable cost.
