Just fitted a "Signal Minder" from Nippy Normans and boy is it ever a good idea!! Why don't manufacturers come up with ideas like this?
On the fly, you can program it to automatically switch-off the indicators after 8, 30 or 45 seconds so you never forget to cancel them. Additionally, you can cancel manually by hitting the same button that you used to activate them. No more prodding that awkward cancel button!!
There's even an option to have all the ambers illuminated as running-lights as they do in America. There are two intensity options for this, but I chose not to have them on at all.
The device is a simple plug-and-play unit, replacing the existing flasher relay. Bit expensive at £60, but what a great item!
What year R1100s do you have? I posted about fitting one a while back............ to be told that my BoxerCup already had the feature as standard (without the "push same button-cancel")
So - I felt a bit of a tw@t when I went to check
I was tempted to swap the horn and indicator cancel buttons over on the basis that the LH button was better for indicator cancellation

Hi Al,
People always say "You'll get used to the cancel button" but after 30 years riding bikes with "normal" indicators, I figured why get used to it when you can put it right?
My R1100S was registered in 2004 but I strongly believe it was actually built in 2003.
The S has a signal cancel system built into the speedo. Can't quite remember what the time distance equation is, but it does work pretty well from memory.

Huh? Where is this documented? And more importantly, how is it activated? Never heard of it. Probably just a rumour like the one about getting used to the standard BMW indicator system

Once you have travelled 200 mtrs from a turning - can you remember if you cancelled the indicator or not? All you know is...... it ain't flashing anymore.
I hadn't noticed it on my 2004 bike, until someone assured me it should be fitted with a canceller. I deliberately left the thing flashing, next time out and sure enough............ they cancel!
So - if yours is already fitted with an inbuilt canceller................ you at least can now cancel using the same button you operated the flasher with

Yup they do self cancel.
Which can be a bugger when you're on motorways.
When I'm not filtering into the exit
and behaving a little more properly
I start indicating at the 3 bar marker and it always selfcancels before I'm on the slip
