Today was going to be the day my S went to be traded in on a GS.
Took it back to standard at the weekend, had all the bodywork off, disconnecyted battery, put the original chip back in, checked it all ran and put everything back together.
Didn't notice the brake warning light . This morning come to set off; brake light on rapid flash and no sound of servo when brakes applied. Residual braking only. Servo absolutely dead.
Any ideas of what I've done, where to start looking for the fix?
Collective knowledge of Boxertrix urgently needed and gratefully received.
Thanks for the suggestions, the dealer also suggested the battery but after an overnight charge the problem was still there. However on the Optimate it was not showing green which I would have expected. Anyway I decided to take it in and let them sort it out. A 10 mile journey on residual braking . I can confirm it is useless, soles of my boots did a better job. Now comes the bad bit - the bill when they find out what's wrong.
The reason it wouldn't go was a fault on the rear ABS sensor as Stoney suggested. Not quite sure of all the details as I didn't get to speak to the technician but the invoice says they repaired a fault on the loom. Anyway at £50 it could have been a lot worse, and the least I've ever paid a BMW dealer for doing anything. BTW they wanted £200 to fit the panniers and top box on the GS, so I did it myself. Only BMW can think it's acceptable that to fit factory luggage you have to file 2 holes in the rear of the bodywork. Give you a natty template to do it though.
£200 for fitting the panniers
Did that include any brackets, or were they already there?
I was told by the mechanic where to file the rear bodywork, but when I mounted the rack - found that it fit straight in there. Turns out mine has the new rear rack (1 piece) that doesn't require modification.
Did you get a brand-spanking GS or prev owned?
