Easier to just shout up the stairs and a cup of tea arrives. I have the wine rack down here, next to the bikes, so that I can shut myself in and then the only way she could talk would be by email.

Sounds as if you'd better be careful what you say or your next cup of tea might arrive at high speed and around head level
