Rods, not trying to rub salt into the wound, but never worked a Saturday in my life! Then went and retired at 46. Everyday is a weekend for me, get on your bike and come and see.
I too worked yesterday and have a bit to do today.... but don't feel too bad, the rain has been torrential in bursts glad I'm not tooling down the M1 from Yorkshire...
Off to get some replacement all weather pants in a bit in preparation for the winter commute.....
Madman, checked out your blog - looks like a nice life in a nice bit of the world.
You're a lucky man Madman. I'm sitting up here in Aberdeen contemplating how I'm going to lay the bike up over winter which is about here now. Pissed with rain the whole of today although yesterday was fine and I got out for a run on the S.
My sister stay's down in Dorking and she has been going on for ages about moving to France. I think she wants to move to the La Rochelle area.
Don't rub the salt any deeper into the wound Madman, .. I've just idden my new 'FlyingBrick' back from Oxford to Essex, ..... I think they still call it 'Rain' when it's that heavy.
Still I shouldn't complain, .... it' not 'Pretty', .. but it's still the best 'Free Bike' I've ever been given

OMG hope it's not a K100?! I despatched one of those for a few months. It was always an act of faith getting it to go round corners
But having said that it was solid and super reliable.

Hey look guys, you don't need to lay the bike up for winter. Just brave the British weather for a trip to the channel, get on a ferry and you can be here within 6 or so hours from Calais. It is a little cooler in November but we still ride in December. Gites can be very cheap at that time of the year.
Just avoid Jan/Feb, if you have seen my blog you'll know why.

is she hasn't already spoken to anyone about the area, flash lives about 30 miles away from la rochelle, and i think andrew s has also got a place near by
Thanks Rods. My big sis keeps changing her mind all the time though about the certain parts of France she would prefer to live. It's amazing how scattered all over the place people are on this website though.
Looking out the office window one can think that anything is better than this as it's pissing down again. It's not cold yet in Aberdeen but it can change quick in October. There is'nt really any kind of Autumn just a quick change from summer into winter leaving everyone wondering what the hell has happened. Iandunn on the tech forum came up with the company I was looking for re the vac bags to lay the bike up over winter. Keeps the thing sealed and away from permanent moisture so I've just ordered mine.
Well Madman, Here in Spain it's even warmer 32 today in the shade. I cannot wait for the winter months here... great biking weather. To be frank the summer months are too warm.... when you are wearing the gear. It is so tempting to ride in shorts T shirt etc etc....BUT as a previous thread has shown, both my wife and I on our respective F650's were taken out at the same time. If we had not got the gear on...????!!!
The Dordogne is fantastic... but rural Spain.... better?

Stuart, My parents lived in Spain for many years and I have very fond memories of the country, I was there myself the week before last for a week.
I know what you mean about the heat, it can get very oppresive in the summer. We very nearly moved to Spain two years ago, but found this place on the way there. You can read why we ended up here on my blog.
Keep in touch if you are passing this way.
