Driving in the c*r last Wednesday Southbound on the A32 near Droxford I rounded a right-hand bend to be confronted by a Black R1200S travelling very rapidly towards me on my side of the road . The rider had apparently felt the urge to cross double white lines on a bend to overtake a white van that they obviously felt was impeding their progress.
The rider managed to pull the bike back in to his side of the road however it did leave me feeling that if his progress continued in that manner for too long he'd be donating more than the bike for spares No doubt a testament to the bikes fine handling
Strange really as the A32 is quite a good road for making rapid progress without the need for suicidal moves.
(Of course many apologies if I'm passing judgement on the finely honed riding skills of anyone on this Forum )
I rather suspect it might be someone who works at S*C. It was about 8:15 a.m. and I normally see someone travelling Northbound on the A32 most mornings about there. They are very often on a variety of new model BMW's so suspect they are off to work there.
Note with interest you live in Denemad. Was brought up there as a child. Currently working in Waterlooville (though hopefully not for much longer!) whilst actually living in Wiltshire now.
Yes I did go to Cowplain, left in 1973. Can't remember any Pauls though . Mind you can't say my memory is that good these days
Still get over to Hampshire these days (apart from the job!) as we have good friends who live in Fareham.
Got my used S from S*C for quite a good price in their sale almost two years ago now. Prefer to use CW in Dorchester though for all my servicing etc. Fell out with S*C over a cock-up with having a part not ready for the annual service last year despite booking it in over a month in advance. They only bothered to check the job sheet less than a week before it was due in then told me they couldn't get the part I wanted. Will not get my custom again.
Bob, you were at Cowplain a bit before me - I started there in 1977. My sister Lorraine would have been there at the same time as you though as she is 7 years older than me.
Regarding SPC, they did me a good deal on the R1200S but I haven't used them for servicing yet so will have to reserve judgement on that. They didn't do too well in the Ride magazine survey whereas CW were right near the top. How much do CW charge for a yearly service?
To be honest I don't think CW are the cheapest but they are extremely helpful and the cost of travelling further afield to save a few quid is not, I feel, worth it anyway.
Probably getting on for £200 all in though you'd need to give them a call really.
As an example of their good service I had mine booked in a while ago for a small job, bearing in mind the bike is a used 1998 model bought elsewhere, and a few days before-hand they rang up saying they'd noticed mine had missed an early re-call would I like it carried out when it was in. Can't say fairer than that!
