Tax Disc position on R1200S

Post by paulR »

Got my R1200S last night :D
Where are you R12S owners putting your tax disc holder? The dealer had put mine hanging down from the left cylinder head which looked a bit naff so I've moved it to the front mudguard bolt. I can't see where else it could go.
The tool kit is a bit stingy isn't it? When I got my 1150GS you got a full set including punture repair kit.

Don't have a 12S obviously but my tax disc lives in my wallet.

You deffo need to move it.

Blokey on the last FLASH tour was on an R1200RT and broke his tax disc holder cos he grounded it through fast riding!

I struggle to understand why the dealers put them on the front of the cylinder sticking down - bloody stupid imo.

Calumny, calumny!! There was no fast riding! These are gentle weekends for gentle people ..........and their ladies

A sort of Saga knee-replacement-down weekend.

Come on down to a FLASH weekend break in South West France!
Rufty-Tufty, tassled, Bikers ONLY. No cars please! (unless it's a Volvo Estate with a carbon fibre tow-bar)

Just had a look at you pics - that is where I have put mine now.

The trouble with keeping the disc in your wallet is that Plod can do you for failing to display, can't they?

I think, in theory, yes. But most Met plod understand, and in fact give the same advice.

Mine also is kept in "the Wallet". Which is kept at home...

Just as well really, because someone nicked my holder (with an old company parking permit in it) a couple of months ago...

It *was* attached to rear support strut thingy somewhere near the rear left pillion peg...ish.

Maybe some GS owner nabbed it...?

Aye I've always kept mine in my wallet after it got lifted twice in a year (as recommended by the police) - I do keep my wallet with me when on the bike though.

The replacement to last years accident had it mounted on the bike... and true to form it's already been nicked!
