Paul - what SPC'll do is the 6000 service plus what BMW call an 'annual inspection' (careful how I type that). It's simply a way of shafting (oops) you twice.paulR wrote:I ordered an R1200S from SPC on Saturday and I asked the salesman what would the yearly service be, as I probably wouldn't be doing 6000 miles in a year. He said around £300That can't be right, surely?
Windy Chris, I'm not too far from you in Denmead. Fancy a blatt sometime?

Thanks for the offer Paul, but I'll decline I'm afraid - without trying to cause any offence whatsoever (and I may fail)paulR wrote:I ordered an R1200S from SPC on Saturday and I asked the salesman what would the yearly service be, as I probably wouldn't be doing 6000 miles in a year. Sorry

I'll be doing mostly my own servicing but I've just had my valves done, throttle balanced and clutch slip investigated for the sum of £70.86.
Problem is now the clutch slip issue can't be sorted under the "Bike Protect" scheme the bike came with as 1. I've done my own servicing and 2. the bike's not been serviced every 6 months / 4k mile's as required for the warranty.
You pays your money you take your choice

Mr Sensible.
No offence taken, windychris
I consider myself to be a pretty safe rider but I know what you mean.
Regarding servicing, once the warranty expires I'll do most of it myself. I was considering a K1200R at one point but one of the things that swayed me towards the R1200S was the easier home maintenance.
