B&Q Matey - I think it's branded Daytona. I think it's £5 for 5 litres and I've been using it in the BM for the last couple of years now

Working off the back of this posting - can you use car engine oil ? I know that there are several other postings about this but all I am after is a simple yes or no or don't take the risk. I too am after 20/50 mineral but cannot find this for motorcycles anywhere locally. I am guessing that the answer could be yes as long as it meets the API ratining. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use car oil. You don't need bike oil which is specially formulated to work with wet clutches 'cos our bikes don't (shouldn't  ) have wet clutches.

That should make things slightly cheaper 'cos you get more car oil for your money. Thanks.

Has anybody come across the following when refitting the engine oil drain plug. As I was screwing the plug in there was a noise as though a slab of beef had just been put onto the BBQ - you know the 'hiss' noise. Well there I was for a moment thinking of what it was and realised it was me. The top of my left arm was resting on the exhaust down pipe. Shame it was not resting against a BMW motifed as at least then I would have had a tatoo - all I have to show is a 5inch x 2inch burn. Moral - always wear a top when working on the bike.

Warm bike up drain oil into pan.
Close garage door
Go to bed
Next day refit sump plug and refill with oil

Having done exactly the same as you

cheap oil

Lidl as Blueboxer advises! For bikes that are still running in/ using lots of oil/ persons who like to be sensible with money, - Winergy oil, 15w40, SPI SJ/CF-4/CF on Monday 24 July at £6.95.
IMHO I think this is all the bike needs, every 3000 miles. Bargain. 8)
