Semi-related...

A friend of mine, who was living abroad for a few years, was looking into buying a tax-free car so contacted a BMW dealer (Park Lane I think) in the UK about their export sales. He enquired about the various engine options for said car, to be informed that petrol engined vehicles (certainly for the model he was looking at) were now 'to special order only'. The reason he was given was that European car manufacturers aren't really bothering with petrol engine development any more - it's all in Diesels.

No bad thing in my opinion - having owned a modern Diesel car there's no way we'd go back to petrol.

Next thing is to stick one in a bike - sure it'll be in a few years, but imagine a 200kg sports-tourer-type bike with, say, 110bhp but 150+lbs torque. Yes Please! :)

It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.
Light travels faster than sound. That's why some people appear
bright until you hear them speak.

And Sebastian Loeb shows a handy turn of speed away from WRC too, as part of the second place team.
