R1100S Panniers
New to the site and have just bought a 2005 twin spark 1100S.
Can anybody help out regarding a question on panniers?
I have a set of panniers I used on my R850R and wonder if they will fit the standard 1100S pannier rails or is there an adaptor kit on market?
Cheers

Welcome to the club Graham.
The panniers will fit on the S, however your R's slimline (coz of the R's high exhaust pipe) l/h pannier will look a bit odd as the S takes 2 full-size jobs. If you can get hold of a single full size l/h pannier you'd be sorted. The r/h ones are the same size on all bikes.

Panniers
Graham,
I have an R850R and a 1100s and use panniers on both, the r/h pannier fits both as you will have seen, the l/h will not readily fit as the locating lug on the footrest is further out on the R850r, as well as the pannier back being smaller to accomodate the "standard" R850R silencer, I say standard as there is a silencer lowering kit for the later 850's, but this still leaves the Footrest lug out of position relative to the 1100s?
As I already had a full set of panniers from the S, I found a set of city lids for commuting on the 850 and bought a new back from Motorworks, then soursed a handle assembly from Ebay, in retrospect and with no time constraints the best and cheapest would be to pick up a complete set from Ebay. If you have any questions send me a PM for my Phone number.

grahamc2, are you the chap that asked a similar question on the BMW club board? Someone did and I told them to join this site as it seems to be where the younger BMW riders with knowledge hang out! Welcome.

Yes younger! I felt old when I had a R1150RT, lost a few years when I swapped to the K1200GT and now feel much younger with the S.
Incidentally, I bought my first new BMW, a R75/7, on September the 21st 1977 at the age of 18, that dates me.
