Bottom fork yoke

Post by winger »

When i did mine a couple of years ago, takeing it of wasn't a problem, getting the knuckle joint out of yoke certainly was, after a great deal of huffing and puffing, some heat in the right place and big spanner i got it off.

The one on the S,that i aquired recently also needed it doing,at the thought of haveing to raise a sweat and bust a gut, took it into work for the guys in the fitting shop to look at,did no more than turned it upside down, tightened the jaws of the vice onto the flat edges of the knuckle joint, got hold of a square section of pipe and lay it diagonally across the fork yoke so it gripped on the lower part of the circular casting and put some pressure on the pipe!!! and just twisted of without the slightest effort!!!.

I believe that's called 'lateral thinking'.

Nice to know it's still alive and well. :)
