Clutch bleeding

Post by Me-109 »

Being new to this boxer stuff I've been poking around the bike recently, stripping panels off to clean out the air filter (a K&N), pull apart the Motronic to examine the chip to see if it an upgrade (no further forward) and stuff like that.

I notice that the line from the clutch slave cylinder is blanked off with a plug, which my service manual says requires a special bleed tool - as it does for the brakes. However the brakes have bleed nipples where they should be. What do I need for the clutch bleed point? Is there anything special or is it just a case of screwing in a correctly sized bleed nipple at servicing time?

Any idea what size and thread? - M10 x 1.00?? Do you leave it in permanently or remove it once bled? There appears to be a ball-bearing in the end of the plug, presumably forced out under pressure by the fluid, which is pushed in as you screw in the nipple. So is it a case of depressing the lever whilst completely unscrewing the nipple to avoid air returning down the line, if you wish to remove it and put the blanking plug back in?

Hi
Once you,ve finished bleeding just remove the nipple and screw in the grub screw.Bleed nipple is the same size as the front calipers.
