Self Indulgence .....
sorry guys but a little self indulgence on my part … since being blue lit into hospital with pneumonia a few months ago it served as a wake up call to coming home and having chips, beans and [variation] was not going to be a good long term strategy. So I decided to diet (no carbs, one meal a day) so far I've lost 4 stones and am chuffed to bits

Re: Self Indulgence .....
Well done Steve, its a shame that we need to have a wake up call to realise what we do to ourselves. Keep up the good work, 4 stones is an immense achievement.

Well done Steve! Do you find you feel generally 'better' having cut the carbs out? A friend recommended that I give it a whirl after he came down from a ginormous 28st to 17st doing it. I tried it for a while, around 6 weeks, lost around a stone....and felt better than I'd felt in ages - a lot less lethargic for a start!
I've relapsed a bit though, courtesy of a holiday/a complete lack of willpower, but fully intend doing it again.

Well done
Down from 19 stones to 17 since end of March myself- helped along by hospitalised for obstructing jaundice.
Target is 16 stones, had to change suspension settings today as now have energy to go for a long ride

Well done Steve. Keep it up.
Are you changing your advice now for suspension setting improvements?
You told me the answer was "eat more pies"!

Re: Self Indulgence .....
That's a great effort Steve. Keep up the good work - you know it makes sense. And well done to others getting to a healthier weight.
I've gradually lost nearly two stones 180lbs down to 155lbs just by being more active since retiring 5 years ago. Think of the money I've saved not having to buy carbon parts to make the bike lighter. Fuel consumption has improved by about 10 miles to the tank on the R1200S too (from 140 miles to warning light, to 150 now).

Nice going Steve, good for you in other ways too, I have had less pain from arthritic joints since shedding a couple of stone.

When I saw the thread title I assumed it would be about a bottle of whiskey! And why not?
That is impressive Steve, it shows a huge self discipline to achieve that loss. Well done.
I tried to lose some weight at the start of June. I managed eleven days before I fell off the wagon back into the warming arms of carbs. I’m off to the Fatherland in a few weeks and no way can I stay on the straight and narrow over there.
Maybe I can try again in August ...
Are you selling your bike gear that doesn’t fit anymore?

Steve, live life to the full bro and enjoy it while it lasts , being a skinny miserable bxstard is no fun and on a positive note if you pass on to the other side as a fatty then you can be made into lots of bars of luvverly soap which is a win win for the environment as no plastic is needed to bottle it,
