Forgive my ignorance, but have been following this thread and I would be interested to know if you can use the shorter torque arm from the SS with a standard S shock? Would this work?

Yes - it raises the back up by about 25mm (an inch in old money :) ) and quickens the steering nicely.

Just do it.
